Welcome to the Limitone dei Greci itinerary.
The name of the itinerary reflects the duality of the route between the northern part, characterised by ecclesiastical power and sacred Baroque architecture, and the southern part, where wine production is central.
The route begins in Mesagne, immersed in a landscape of golden fields and centuries-old olive groves that capture the essence of rural life in Salento. Passing through ancient masserie, the traveller can immerse himself in the ancient history of Messapia, breathing in an atmosphere of mystery and discovery.
Continuing along the path, you will reach the picturesque nature reserve of Li Paduli, a true paradise for nature lovers, where rainwater creates an oasis of wildlife. Here, among the ruins and masserie hidden among the vineyards, one feels a deep connection with the land and its millenary history.
Continuing along the itinerary, the traveller reaches the church of Sant'Antonio alla Macchia, immersed in a centuries-old pinewood that exudes an aura of spirituality and peace. Walking through the ancient roads, you can discovers the Parish Church of Sant'Antonio di Padova and the evocative Church of Saints Pancrazio and Francesco d'Assisi, witnesses of an ancient and profound faith.
The journey ends with the majesty of the Archbishop's Castle and the timeless charm of the Li Castelli archaeological site, where ancient stones tell thousands of years of civilisation and conquest.
Finally, the Grotta dell'Angelo (Angel's Cave) closes the circle of this unique experience, immersing the traveller in an ancient and contemplative silence, where the rock walls keep hidden secrets and wonders.
