LAGS OF THE MESSAPIANS LAND
Local Action Groups (LAGs) are local coordination and planning instruments provided for by the Community Initiative called LEADER. Through the activities of the LAGs, this initiative promotes the sustainable development of the rural areas of the European Union, particularly in the fields of agriculture, the environment, rural tourism and crafts.
Inspired by a participatory approach to programming, LAGs bring together all the potential players in the development of an area, such as employers' organisations, businesses, local authorities, public bodies and third sector associations.
The LAGs implement their work by defining a Local Development Strategy (LDS) and a Local Action Plan (LAP), which set out the methods, actions and objectives of the local development project.
