Puccia

Puccia is an oven-baked product of the Salento cuisine, with particular reference to the province of Brindisi. It can be eaten in the classic version, seasoned or white, with black olives or with vegetables and cold meats. Your appetite will be stimulated by the full, round shape of the leavened bread. Traditionally, this bread is made during the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, but this does not mean that it cannot be made and eaten on other occasions. There are several interesting varieties of puccia to be discovered and tasted: the "uliata" variety, typical of the south and inland of Salento; the "pizzu" one of San Pancrazio Salentino; puccia with onion and "pennula" tomatoes or with courgettes, capers, peppers and chilli peppers.
