Palazzo Caniglia

In Francavilla Fontana you can admire the historic Palazzo Caniglia, a noble building built at the beginning of the 17th century. It is three storeys high and has a long, sober façade, except for the intermediate windows. These have very elaborate architectural cornices with graceful, finely sculpted floral decorations. Another architectural feature is the long central balcony with its iron goose-necked balustrade, so called because of its curved shape, which recalls the protruding part of the animal's body.
The palace is in continuity with the other Baroque aristocratic buildings along Via Roma, which you can walk along to get in touch with the past and the ineffable beauty of Apulian architecture.
