Boschetto Scaracci (wood)

The Boschetto Scaracci, not far from the Masseria of the same name to the north of Latiano, is an enchanting green oasis surrounded by olive groves, the ideal place to immerse yourself in the tranquillity of a walk and admire the natural landscape in all its biodiversity.
Surrounded by dry stone walls, the Boschetto covers an area of about four hectares. What makes it special is the presence of the monumental cork oak, the largest of the species in terms of trunk size, with a diameter of up to six metres.
The 'Sughera' specimen, which is worthy of being photographed for its splendour, is surrounded by a varied flora, including holm oaks, downy oaks and the rich undergrowth typical of the Mediterranean scrub. During the walk, pay particular attention to the "vore", natural openings in the ground that are necessary for the drainage of stagnant water, especially in winter, and that regulate the ecological balance of the area.
The Boschetto is also a resting place for many species of migratory birds, a naturalistic treasure trove of biodiversity that is ideal for observation and educational trails for children.
