Muro Tenente Archaeological Park
It is a very ancient settlement, more than two thousand years old, which spread throughout the Apulian territory until the Roman conquest of Taranto, after which the site of Muro Tenente underwent a slow decline that led to the shrinking of the settlement until its total abandonment in the late Imperial period. The heart of the archaeological site is reached by a series of articulated routes that allow easy access to the various points of interest. These include the necropolis, where the structures are surrounded by small enclosures, generally interpreted as family burials, or the Hellenistic fortifications, the remains of which reach an impressive height of around four metres in some places!
To complete your visit, you can go up to the observation tower. Here you can admire the amazing beauty of the whole site from above.
